Bishop Tyrone Glenn Jefferson Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Bro. Tyrone G. Jefferson Sr. and Sis. Brenda King-Smith. He graduated with honors from John F. Kennedy Senior High School and pursued a Master's Degree in Theology at the Inter Baptist Theological Seminary of Houston, Texas. Influenced by his grandmothers, Missionary Mildred Jefferson and Yvonne King, he developed a deep commitment to the ministry. Bishop Jefferson has been a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and was mentored by Dr. J. B. Barnes at Greater Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He served in various roles, including junior usher, youth choir director, and drummer. At 14, he was called to preach and later served at Genesis Missionary Baptist Church under his uncle, Rev. Fredrick Anderson.
In 1996, he founded the Abundant Life Baptist Church, later known as Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church. Bishop Jefferson has implemented numerous community programs, including youth programs, senior citizen activities, and affordable housing initiatives. He also established the Tyrone G. Jefferson Jr. Scholarship Foundation and M.O.V.E. (Ministers of Voter Education). Bishop Jefferson has held various leadership roles and advisory positions, including with the Louisiana Southern Berith District, the Full Gospel Baptist Church International, and Rainbow Push 1000 churches. He has also been involved in the Juvenile Court System, the St. Roch Interfaith Community Board, and the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) WRAP Interfaith Board.
An acclaimed gospel singer and preacher, Bishop Jefferson has performed nationally and internationally, sharing the stage with renowned gospel artists. He has been featured on BET and the Word Network Channel and performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Saint Thomas Christian University in 2013 and was elevated to "Overseer" in the Full Gospel Ministry in 2014. Bishop Jefferson has been a spiritual advisor to many elected officials and served on the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority Board. He presented at the Stellar Awards and released several successful gospel singles. In July 2022, he was consecrated as a Bishop by the Presiding Bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, Joseph W. Walker III.
